Passionate Experienced Creative
Director of Photography | Colorist | Editor | Digital Image Technician
My name is Atharv Saini, and I am a director of photography. I am originally from Dehradun, India, I currently live in San Francisco. I first picked up a digital camera in 2009 and it was a Fujifilm Finepix 2650 point-and-shoot camera that fascinated me, I learned about film and exposure through experimentation and getting inspired after watching others online as the years progressed. Photography felt limiting somewhat but also very liberating, landscape photography and animal photography have been the most mesmerizing to me as my eyes cannot get off the screen when a beautiful perfectly exposed image of nature is in front of me, reminding me to be outdoors experiencing and preserving it. I thank my father, as growing up he and I would always watch documentaries or travel shows about wilderness and nature on TV, hence my goal in life is to be a cinematographer for NatGeo one day.
I knew I loved capturing memories when I could see the printed photos in my hands that my mother would bring back from the photo developers for our family photo books at home. Creating memories with loved ones was great but capturing the wilderness and nature on camera through my eyes will always be my real passion.
I gravitated towards video and film when I saw that it was capturing time and preserving it with sound, it has more dimensions than a photo in a way that still fascinates me as I also dwell deeper into quantum spinors and our holographic reality as physics progresses today in 2024, I am in awe of color science and perfect symmetry of calculations and its results when created intentionally as a medium to express emotions.
Photography is an art form based on calculations of light and its quality and some say it might be capturing a part of your soul forever in the quantum realm too, I come from a small town in India, but the journey to California has been nothing short of a blessing, I am grateful for the ability to express myself artistically and collaborate with people who love their art and craft. That inspires me to seize and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
